Samsung to Deploy its Cloud-native vRAN Solutions in KDDI’s 5G Network

Samsung is collaborating with KDDI to deploy its cloud-native virtualized Radio Access Network (vRAN) solution’s on KDDI’s 5G network. Trials will begin in the first quarter of 2022 and commercial deployment will begin in the second half of 2022. According to a Samsung press release, the company’s vRAN “offers more deployment flexibility, greater scalability and improved resource efficiency in network operation,” and “also simplifies end-to-end network management through automation, allowing operators to quickly introduce new services with minimal impact on deployment.”
